Angus & Julia Stone

Angus & Julia Stone kicked off their sold out Big Jet Plane tour in Melbourne on Wednesday night at the stunning Palais Theatre. With a beautiful stage set-up, like a campfire in the Australian bush, they played a concise set-list of songs from their albums, as well as folk-style covers of Living on a Rainbow and You’re The One That I Want.
I shot the show for LifeMusicMedia, check out my photos here!

The Prince Bandroom was an exciting petri dish of young musical talent in Melbourne on Thursday night. Michael Paynter, Ryan Meeking & Stonefield covered all demographics with their pop, folk & rock sounds respectively. Head over to LifeMusicMedia for my full review and photos from the night.

Nouvelle Vague

So Frenchy So Chic – Nouvelle Vague live at The Prince Bandroom

So Frenchy So Chic 2010 tour rolled into town last Thursday, and I was there covering the show for FasterLouder. Berry, a female singer-songwriter, enchanted the audiences her chilled-out acoustic fair. In contrast, Nouvelle Vague fronted by Phoebe Kildeer and former Miss France, Mareva Galanter, put on a high energy show with their pop renditions of punk classics, such as Too Drunk To F*ck and God Save The Queen. Jeff Martin & Pear – Photos!

Jeff Martin

Jeff Martin

I shot the Jeff Martin gig at The Corner Hotel for LifeMusicMedia on Friday night – and WOW, what a show! ‘Morocco’ was the perfect opener and succeeded with a mix of greatest hits from The Tea Party and The Armada. The support act, Pear, was a surprise discovery – her folk/world music was in stark contrast to Jeff’s intense orient-tinged rock, but somehow perfectly fit the bill. Check out my photos here!

Big British Sound 2010 – Photos!

Big British Sound 2010 - Bertie Blackman

Big British Sound 2010

Ben Sherman Big British Sound 2010 made a remarkable debut in Melbourne last Thursday night. The line-up included Bertie Blackman, Whitley, Big Scary and Pikelet. The Corner Hotel was packed to the rafters with preppies, union jacks and mods. Some of Australia’s emerging talent mixed up their set-list with some classic British covers (my personal highlight was Whitley’s version of Blue Monday). I was there covering the event for The AU Review, check out my photos on flickr.

So Frenchy So Chic 2009 – Moriarty & Cocoon

Moriarty

Moriarty

The Prince Bandroom traveled to France last night, thanks to So Frenchy So Chic’s double-bill of Moriarty and Cocoon. Showcasing two very different genres of the French indie music scene; Moriarty’s folk-blues and Cocoon’s sweet pop sounds. Photographed for Life Music Media, check out the full gallery on Flickr.
