The Rome Photoshoots

If you have been following me on Instagram, you may have seen a plethora of behind the scenes imagery I posted in Europe. I’m pleased to finally show you the final product.

In Rome, Italy, I collaborated with three amazing alternative models on a series of fashion photoshoots. Each one unique, showcasing a different underground take on the Eternal City’s thriving fashion scene.

Samantha Harris

Backstage with Samantha Harris

Kookai launched its AW14 collection in empire-style at the Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne. Inspired by the cool confidence of New York, the collection features relaxed fits, intricate architectural-inspired patterns and a more muted palette than we’ve seen in the past from Kookai.

I photographed the backstage and runway action for Style Melbourne. Here’s a sneak peek!

Royal Botanic Runway – Photos

Royal Botanic Runway

Australia fashion royalty – Aurelio Costarella, Collette Dinnigan and Akira Isogawa

Australian fashion – under the sun – where it should be. On Thursday I photographed the inaugural Royal Botanic Runway at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne for Style Melbourne. A unique, open-air fashion parade, showcasing cherry-picked Australian fashion designers to help raise awareness for RBG’s Melbourne Water Strategy Project.

The runway even hosted by celebrity landscape gardener, Jamie Durie, featured fashion design royalty; Akira Isogawa, Aurelio Costarella, Collette Dinnigan and Martin Grant.

A spectacular blend of fashion, flora and conservation – let’s hope the Royal Botanic Runway becomes a regular Summer fashion event.

We are the weirdos… Gothic Fashion Photoshoot

Billie-Jade

Billie-Jade in the Suburban Goth photoshoot

One of my favourite movies from the 90s, is the teen witch movie, The Craft. The idea of teenagers practicing witchcraft in a suburban context, against the rigidity of a Catholic school upbringing, shows girls with a strong sense of self with the ability to make decisions on their own terms, without a care of the judgement they receive from their peers. Not to mention, the time capsule of where fashion was in 1996.

For a few years I had wanted to pay tribute to this movie with fashion photoshoot, and there was no one more perfect for the role than Billie-Jade Hastings, lead singer of Diamond Noir. Billie-Jade, like me, had a strong affinity with the movie and is a natural born Alternative Goddess who had no problem embodying the character.

Shot in a quiet inner city suburb of Melbourne. The styling was a modern take on 90s Gothic fashion, with pieces from; Alannah Hill, H&M, Material Girl, Mazi and Jeffrey Campbell shoes. I styled each look to represent the five elements; Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Spirit.
