Two looks with Lydia

Flock of Seagulls - Lydia

When London-based Australian model Lydia Turner was in Melbourne in late November, together with brilliant make-up artist Jessica Kirkpatrick, we collaborated on two back-to-back shoots with very different themes; nautical & grunge. As you can see, both ladies are super talented and we got some epic shots. Check out the entire shoot on flickr.

Polka City – Model shoot

Kelly Jayne Storey

Kelly Jayne Storey

I collaborated with English alternative model, Kelly Jayne Storey while she was in Melbourne for an impromptu photoshoot in the city. I assumed the role of stylist, and Kelly the MUA and together we created a funky set of photos.

Angus & Julia Stone

Angus & Julia Stone kicked off their sold out Big Jet Plane tour in Melbourne on Wednesday night at the stunning Palais Theatre. With a beautiful stage set-up, like a campfire in the Australian bush, they played a concise set-list of songs from their albums, as well as folk-style covers of Living on a Rainbow and You’re The One That I Want.
I shot the show for LifeMusicMedia, check out my photos here!

Mistresses of the Sea – Pirate Shoot

Mistresses of the Sea shoot. ©2010

The legend of Anne Bonney and Mary Read played muse to my pirate-inspired fashion photoshoot last month. Anne & Mary are the most famous female pirates in history, known to have been deadly in battle against rival male pirates, often cross-dressing as they sailed the seas under Captain Jack Rackham. I was helped by a team of two extraordinary seafaring models who braved near-freezing conditions for their art; Samii La Morte and Anoush Anou, as well as Melbourne MUA Ebony Kay who created the smoldering makeup looks for the models.

I undertook the Fashion styling (I’m a closet pirate) and we had some lovely bows custom made by Kelly at Bye Bye Baby, a talented Bonnie-lass from Queensland.

Tim Burton ACMI exhibition launch

Tim Burton

Tim Burton on the red carpet

I attended the media preview of Tim Burton’s exhibition at ACMI in Melbourne this week, on assignment for LifeMusicMedia. Over 700 pieces are on display, tracking the history of Burton’s creative practice from his Burbank school days, stint working at Disney as an animator to his Hollywood movie career, or as Burton refers to it – his “dirty laundry.”
A Nightmare...

A Nightmare…

ACMI is the first stop outside America to host the exhibition – along with newly added pieces from Alice in Wonderland including Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter costume and large figures of the Cheshire Cat, White Rabbit and March Hare. My favourite piece in the exhibition would have to be the Edward Scissorhands vinyl outfit that Johnny Depp wore and the Stag hedge sculpture. The exhibition opens to the public on June 24th 2010 until October 10th 2010.

Check out my photos from the exhibition!

So Frenchy So Chic – Nouvelle Vague & Berry Photos!

Nouvelle Vague

So Frenchy So Chic – Nouvelle Vague live at The Prince Bandroom

So Frenchy So Chic 2010 tour rolled into town last Thursday, and I was there covering the show for FasterLouder. Berry, a female singer-songwriter, enchanted the audiences her chilled-out acoustic fair. In contrast, Nouvelle Vague fronted by Phoebe Kildeer and former Miss France, Mareva Galanter, put on a high energy show with their pop renditions of punk classics, such as Too Drunk To F*ck and God Save The Queen. Simply Madonna Exhibition

Simply Madonna Exhibition at Chadstone Shopping Centre

Simply Madonna – an exhibition of Madonna’s most iconic fashion pieces was on display for the first time in Melbourne at Chadstone Shopping Centre. Straight from London in time for L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival; outfits on display included the Marilyn Monroe-inspired pink dress and fur stole from the Material Girl video (1984), the iconic Jean-Paul Gaultier designed conical bra from the Blonde Ambition Tour (1991) and the white ghetto outfit and cowboy hat from the Music video clip (2000).
